How City and State Laws Interact to Create Local Development

Building and development is happening all over the Bay Area, especially in districts (like mine) that are along the transportation corridor. I answer questions — almost daily — about how and why so many apartments and homes are being built…and why they are being built to heights that were uncommon in prior decades. So, here is a 6-minute video that uses legos to explain how state laws interact with city building regulations to create the development we see all around us. Some bits of info are specific to Belmont, but the overall concepts are applicable to any city in California.
