Voting Information for the 2022 Election
DISTRICTS AND MAYOR
This year, for the first time, Belmont has been broken into four districts — each of which elects its own Councilmember. The Councilmember will serve on Council for four years. Districts 1 and 3 are electing their Councilmembers this year. Districts 2 and 4 elect theirs in 2024.
You can see an interactive map of the Districts here: https://belmontca.maps.arcgis.com/apps/instant/basic/index.html?appid=f6027263a7bb41649a5db8bccdd910c7
This year, we also elect Belmont’s first at-large Mayor (meaning everyone in Belmont votes for them). The elected Mayor will serve a two-year term.
CANDIDATE INFO
If you haven’t yet filled out and mailed your ballot, and you are looking for resources to help get information, I’d encourage you to, of course, read the Campaign Statements in the Sample Ballot book. The City also has them here: https://www.belmont.gov/our-city/city-government/election-information/election-2022.
Also, check out the San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce Candidate Forum. This Forum had all the candidates for the Belmont City elections (not the School Board), and they had us each respond to questions around city functions, open space, and more. You can find a video of that forum here: https://us02web.zoom.us/rec/play/s4-gbZ7sbUiZeElP9J1i8UhvyDX1W0BhZkVjlsefuxdbSMxO8y5H5X4peOCCJfeL86gaAyx3_9bVDDXL.pOhittUxuKJpQbwl
